My wife and I decided to start a family and we needed more space than our 1-bedroom condo provided. We wanted to find a lot on the East side of Austin that would allow us to build our dream home. We found the perfect little lot, hired an architect, and began interviewing general contractors. We received bids from 3 different contractors and wow was there a difference in the bids. The big general contractors’ bids were $100k+ more than Nussel Contracting’s bid. Too good to be true? I needed to find out. I asked Chris Nussel to speak with the owners of a custom house he recently built for them. The owners told me that Chris did a great job, stayed on budget, delivered on his timeline, and their house is beautiful. I reviewed the bid with Chris, line by line, and Chris’s bid was not missing anything. Chris just doesn’t add on additional costs that the bigger contractors do, in order to afford their office buildings, marketing budgets, admin staff, etc. We had found our general contractor. We negotiated the expectations, timelines, contingencies, and broke ground shortly thereafter. Throughout the building process, Chris kept in constant contact with us. Our award-winning architects told us in private that they rarely get to work with a builder as knowledgeable and collaborative as Chris. The architects said that our project was a lot of fun because Chris was such a great project partner. Chris delivered on his promise and then some. Our home design was ambitious with hydraulic garage door, multi-story Brazilian hardwood, metal framing, etc. and Chris handled our unique build like a master. When the structural engineer changed her opinion/requirements mid-build, Chris had a can-do attitude, made the adjustments with the architect, and kept the project on time. Our house turned out unbelievable! Chris’s construction expertise is obvious in speaking with him or looking at his previous projects, but what sets him apart is his integrity and his commitment to only deliver a product that is done right. In today’s building climate, with houses being churned out a dime a dozen, it makes my family (three kids now!) so comforted to know that we have a home that will stand the test of time and will never let us down. Nussel Contracting converted a small warehouse
to a linen showroom for our north location. This included converting overhead
doors to a wall, disgusing an electrical panel, removing a sink, interior
painting, carpet, baseboard installation, installing and staining linen rods. In
our south location, we installed several commercial toilet paper holders,
replaced mutliple faucets and cabinet hardware, and had some minor repair work
completed.

If it is not done right, he'll tear it down and have it done again until it is made to the required specifications. I have seen him do it and I appreciate his attention to detail. In addition to the quality workmanship, Chris over communicates ongoing project status with me and my tenants in a professional and courteous way. They are as punctual as it gets in the construction business where any little set back can delay construction time lines for days or even weeks.

Our rental property sustained a large amount of water damage. Nussel Contracting, LLC replaced sheetrock, baseboards, and painted. We were so happy with the work quality and timeframe that we asked Chris to give us a reasonable hourly rate, and for 3 days they replaced rotten wood, and performed other miscellaneous tasks.
